If you have never climbed, this course is for you. The lessons are aimed for you to become a safe and autonomous climber. This means that at the end of the course, you will be able to sign in on your own to any climbing centre, and enjoy climbing on your own or with friends. The course is covering two types of climbing, top rope climbing, and bouldering. Some people will require up to around 3 lessons in order to be confident and safe.

Description

If you have never climbed, this course is for you. The lessons are aimed for you to become a safe and autonomous climber. The course is covering two types of climbing, top rope climbing, and bouldering. Some people will require up to around 3 lessons in order to be confident and safe.

The course will cover the following materials:

– How to warm up and stretch
– The different climbing disciplines
– How to wear a harness
– How to tie a rope to a harness
– How to belay for top rope climbing
– The different types of hand and foot holds
– How to abseil back down
– Climbing techniques for slab and steeper walls
– How to anchor yourself when belaying on a top rope

If you are booking a beginners session, it is necessary to have 2 beginners to do the course, so that one person climbs, while the other learns how to belay safely.

Travelling there

Tube

Manor House (Picadilly Line) is the nearest tube station to the Castle. Take exit 3 and walk down Green Lanes (away from the park) for about 4 minutes until you see the Castle on your left. Finsbury Park tube (Victoria/Picadilly/National Rail) is also nearby (15 minutes walk). You can also use the Transport for London web site to plan your journey: http://www.tfl.gov.uk

Bus

The 341 and the 141 stop just outside The Castle on Green Lanes (Myddleton Avenue Northbound / Lordship Park Southbound). The 106 is the next closest stop (Green Lanes). The 253, 254, 259, 279, 29 and 393 also stop nearby.

Cycling

The Castle has an excellent cycle parking facilities on-site. Please check in at Reception before taking your bike through the building to the secure bike park. You can also get your bike serviced or repaired at Bikemech, located in The Castle's gatehouse.

Car

Please note that there is limited car parking. Cars parked in the West Reservoir Centre's car park may be locked in when they close (around 5pm).
